2.6 a Game: Viking FK and Lions FC Are Outscoring the Rest of the Planet

A look at the world's most productive attacks by rate and by raw total, from Miami's 63 goals to Viking FK's 2.6 per game.

Two teams share the fastest scoring rate on the planet right now, and neither of them plays in Europe's biggest leagues. Viking FK have found the net 54 times in just 21 Eliteserien games, a rate of 2.6 goals per match. Lions FC, in Queensland's NPL, have matched that exact rate with 57 goals in 22 outings. No other side on the list gets close to that pace.

Inter Miami CF top the raw count with 63 goals from 26 MLS matches, working out at 2.4 per game. That is still the biggest total anywhere, but it took five more matches than Viking FK needed to get there.

The Volume Sides

FC Seoul have racked up 56 goals, the most of any side that has actually played 30 games, though their per-game average of 1.9 is the lowest among the group. Flamengo sit just behind on 55 from 28 in the Brasileirão, also averaging 2.0 a game. Charleston Battery round out the volume group with 50 goals in 25 USL Championship matches, also at 2.0 per game.

The Rate Chasers

Behind the two leaders on 2.6, Inter Miami and IK Sirius are tied on 2.4 goals per game. Sirius have needed only 22 Allsvenskan matches to reach 52 goals, the same number of games Lions FC have played to hit their 57. Yunnan Yukun of the Chinese Super League complete the list with 54 goals in 26 games, a 2.1 average.

Put the numbers side by side and the picture is simple: Viking FK and Lions FC are scoring faster than anyone, Inter Miami have scored more than anyone, and across four continents there is no shortage of attacks putting the ball in the net at a serious clip this year.
