More ways to read a match
Player ratings are here: everyone who takes part in a match now comes with a rating you can pull straight into your app or site. Penalty shootouts are covered too, so a tie that goes the distance tells the full story instead of stopping at the final whistle. For the tactically minded, we have added field tilt and passes per defensive action, two straightforward measures of who held territory and who pressed hardest. Expected goals are now correctly flagged on tens of thousands of matches that always had the numbers but were not turning up when you searched for them.
Follow a tournament from the draw to the final
Standings now move as matches are played, so a table on your page keeps pace with the day rather than waiting for it to finish. Tables are also available from the moment of the draw, before a ball is kicked. Knockout brackets keep qualifying rounds and the main draw clearly apart, arrive ready to drop into a page, and second legs now point back to the first leg as they should. Which stage a competition has reached is stated plainly, so it is no longer something you have to work out.
Manager records that hold up
We went back through manager careers and corrected spells that appeared to start after they had ended, along with previous clubs recorded against the wrong person. Manager information is also easier to get hold of than it was.
Padel, plus cleaner results everywhere
Padel is now open to everyone: the coverage was there, and this week we opened the door to it. We also corrected scorelines that were simply impossible, cleared out matches that never reached a result and were still sitting in your upcoming lists, and fixed CS2 matches that were being shown as finished while they were still going.
Your account, your feeds, your rights
Switching off a live football feed now works first time. On your account page, the option to create a new key sits well away from copy and looks different, so nobody replaces a working key by mistake. We have also set out in plain language how you can store, keep and build on the data you take from the API, and you can now see graded outcomes for every market we price, match by match.
