Odds and closing prices

Hi Nora, one more improvement request, about closing prices. For a finished match, /api/v2/odds/ and /events/{id}/odds/ give me decimal_odds as the last price, but in my tests every one of ~220 finished matches had its last price re-read after kickoff, so it looks like an in-play price. The opening price (opening_decimal_odds, opening_at) is usable, but it is not the closing line. The docs say a pre-match quote and an in-play quote are stored as two separate lines per bookmaker, market and outcome, and the list shows the most recently observed one. So the pre-match line is probably still there. Could you tell me: 1. Is there a parameter, for example is_live=false, to get the pre-match row of a finished match (its last price before kickoff)? 2. If not, could a closing price (the last price before kickoff, for example closing_decimal_odds with closing_at) be added to the rows? It is the standard reference to evaluate whether a model beats the market, and it would make the history you keep much more useful. Thanks! :)

Hi, Thanks, this is a clear request and a sensible one: a closing line is the right reference for judging a model against the market. To your two questions: right now there is no parameter such as is_live=false on /api/v2/odds/ or /events/{id}/odds/, and there is no closing_decimal_odds or closing_at field. Each row has an is_live flag (true for an in-play quote, false for a pre-match one), but you can't filter on it yet. The docs also say that an in-play row can still carry the bookmaker's last pre-match number when the line was not re-priced after kickoff, so I can't promise that decimal_odds on a finished match is a true in-play price or a true closing price. Please don't treat it as the closing line. Adding either a filter or a closing price to the rows is a change to the football odds API, so I've passed it to Marco, who owns the football endpoints, to decide which of the two fits best. Hi, Thanks for adding your voice here. You're the second person asking for closing prices on football odds, and I've added that to the request with Marco, who owns the football odds endpoints. Where it stands: there is still no way to filter by is_live and no closing price field on the odds rows, and the request is waiting for Marco's decision. I can't say yet whether or when it will ship, and I'd rather not promise a date. In the meantime, please don't treat decimal_odds on a finished match as a closing line, because it can be a later in-play quote. You'll hear back on this ticket once there's a decision.
