Stade Rennais have made their statement signing of the window, paying Toulouse 22.5M euros for defender Charlie Cresswell. The fee sits close to his market value of around 24M euros, making this one of the more straightforward valuations in a batch of transfers that otherwise tells a messier story about where clubs think value actually lies.
The Big One
Cresswell's move from Toulouse to Rennais is by some distance the largest fee in this run of deals, more than nine times the next biggest. At 22.5M euros against a near 24M euro valuation, Rennais have paid close to what the market says he is worth rather than hunting a discount.
South America's Smaller Deals
Diego Tarzia's switch from CA Independiente to Vitória cost 2.3M euros, a touch under his roughly 3M euro valuation. Juan De los Santos went the other way on value, moving from Nacional to Al-Jazira for 1.1M euros despite a market value closer to 1M euros, a case of a club paying a slight premium for a player already valued at a round number.
Where the Numbers Diverge
Further down the list, fees start to pull away from valuations in both directions. Esteghlal FC paid 370k euros for Mohammad Khalife out of Aluminium Arak, well under his listed 1M euro value, while a second Aluminium Arak departure, Bahram Goudarzi, left for the same Esteghlal side for just 115k euros against a market value given as around 0M euros.
Mohamed Sedki Debchi's move from Espérance Sportive de Tunis to Hidd for 175k euros and Souleymane Cissé's transfer from Kawkab Athletic Club Marrakech to Al-Najma SC for 140k euros both carry fees well above their stated 0M euro valuations, a reminder that valuations and fees do not always move together once a deal actually gets done.
Rounding out the list, Kevin Felida left FC Den Bosch for Hà Nội for 100k euros, the smallest fee of the group, again against a 0M euro market value.
Taken together, the eight deals span from a near full-price marquee move in France to a handful of low six figure fees across Asia and north Africa, with Cresswell's transfer standing alone as the one deal here that actually matches the number attached to it.
