Leeds United and Manchester United could not be separated on Monday, the two sides sharing the points in a 1-1 draw. Neither team found a way to turn a single goal into three points, and the result leaves both clubs with work still to do in the Premier League table.
It was the kind of afternoon where a single moment on either end decided the mood in the stands, and in the end honours were even.
Premier League round-up
Brighton & Hove Albion delivered the result of the day, putting five past Crystal Palace without reply in a 5-0 demolition that will have turned heads across the division.
Arsenal made the long trip to the City Ground count, edging out Nottingham Forest 1-0 to keep their own momentum ticking over. Bournemouth were comfortable winners at home too, seeing off Sunderland 2-0.
La Liga round-up
Across in Spain, Osasuna beat Real Racing Club 2-0, while Celta Vigo edged a tighter contest against Deportivo Alavés, winning 2-1.
Taken together, it was a Monday of contrasts: a tense stalemate at Elland Road, a rout on the south coast, and two tidy away performances in Spain to round things out.
