Deportivo Riestra and Central Córdoba cancelled each other out on Tuesday, settling for a 1-1 draw in the Liga Profesional de Fútbol. Neither side could find a winner, and the point apiece leaves both clubs with work still to do.
It was a tight, even contest from what the scoreline suggests, with Riestra and Central Córdoba trading a goal each across the ninety minutes. The result keeps the gap between the two sides unresolved heading into their next outings.
Round-up
Draws were the theme of the day across the division. Vélez Sarsfield and Club Atlético Platense put on a shootout of their own, sharing six goals in a 2-2 finish that will please neither defence. Banfield also failed to find a winner, drawing 1-1 with Rosario Central in another tightly contested affair.
The only team to pick up all three points was Estudiantes de La Plata, who were the standout performers of the round. They cruised past Gimnasia y Esgrima Mendoza 3-0, the clean sheet and three-goal margin putting daylight between the two sides on the day.
With four of the day's four matches producing goals at both ends in three of them, and only one side managing a win, the round offered plenty of drama without many decisive results. Riestra and Central Córdoba will look to turn their draw into a platform, while Estudiantes will take real confidence from a scoreline that had no reply from their opponents.
