Eight matches finished with a winning side keeping a clean sheet on Tuesday, and more than half of them came from a single competition. Argentina's Liga Profesional de Fútbol produced five shutout wins in one round, from a 5-0 romp to a string of tight 1-0 and 2-0 scorelines.
Argentina's defensive sweep
Rosario Central provided the standout result, beating Independiente Rivadavia 5-0 without reply. Elsewhere the margins were tighter but the outcome the same: San Lorenzo edged Deportivo Riestra 1-0, Gimnasia y Esgrima Mendoza did the same to Newell's Old Boys, and CA Lanús saw off Vélez Sarsfield 2-0. Club Atlético Belgrano traveled to Racing Club and came away with a 2-0 win on the road, the joint-biggest away margin among the night's shutouts alongside Marseille's result in France.
Brazil and France join in
In Brasileirão Serie A, Flamengo beat Fluminense 1-0 and Bahia did the same to Mirassol, two narrow scorelines that still ended goalless at the other end. In Ligue 1, Olympique de Marseille were the most emphatic of the away sides, winning 2-0 at Troyes.
